Mental Health & Crisis Support

Mental Health & Crisis Support

Supporting students' social and emotional health has been a priority for educators throughout Clackamas County. As part of our Student Success Act implementation support, Clackamas ESD offers several services to districts to assist with the implementation of mental health, safety and prevention programs.

We are dedicated to helping districts with the development of comprehensive school safety and prevention programs that promote mental health and well-being, are culturally responsive and foster learning environments where all students thrive because they belong. Supports provided are evidence-based, grounded in equity, trauma-informed and strengths-focused.

Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Postvention (Adi's Act)

We are here to help districts develop and build the components of a comprehensive suicide prevention plan as required by Adi’s Act. Assisting districts with comprehensive suicide prevention including procedural planning, equity centered supports and staff training as outlined in Adi's are a top priority.

We also provide training in state-approved suicide prevention, intervention and postvention programs including:

Behavioral Safety Assessment (formally Threat Assessment)

We work with Clackamas County Juvenile Justice and engaged districts by providing support and training for districts and community partners in level 1, level 2 and the newly expanded threat assessment behavioral safety assessment (BSAT) process.

Every Student Belongs

It is our goal to assist districts with Every Student Belongs program development. This includes providing resources and training designed to help districts increase and build a culture of belonging for all students, provide districts with assistance in understanding all students belong guidance and bias incident response reporting requirements.

Clackamas Regional Flight Team

Clackamas ESD led the formation of the Clackamas Regional Flight Team, a countywide support network for responding to school crises including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or the death of a student or staff member. No crisis is alike, and having a trained group prepared to respond is critical to beginning the healing process, preventing further harm, and identifying and protecting vulnerable students. Clackamas ESD acts as the team's county-wide facilitator and organizes training for new and experienced members, as well as leadership training for members interested in stepping up to lead the regional flight team during a school crisis response.
