Shirley joined us Dec. 16, and leads a variety of internal and external communications activities for the ESD. As a member of the cabinet, she’ll work with ESD leaders and district colleagues to develop and implement strategies for communicating our region’s great work to many different audiences. She’ll also manage and support many ESD projects and events, and team with our district partners to provide communications services and support.
Shirley has more than 25 years’ experience leading communications teams and an array of strategic communications, marketing and public relations initiatives for public, private and nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she was strategic communications director for the OHSU Foundation. She previously led communications for former Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction Terry Bergeson, the Chalkboard Project (a K-12-focused nonprofit) and Marylhurst University. She earned an M.A. and B.A. in communications and a B.A. in English from Washington State University, and began her career as a TV reporter, producer and anchor.
Shirley is excited to return to K-12 education and has many people to meet as she continues onboarding – please feel free to connect with her at sskidmore@clackesd.org or 503.675.4058.
