February is Career and Technical Education Awareness Month, an opportunity to celebrate the value and achievements of career technical programs in our schools. CTE coursework equips students with practical skills and valuable hands-on experience to help them succeed in high-demand fields, and students who take CTE classes have phenomenal graduation rates.
We don’t have to look far for these success stories in Clackamas County: Our 2024-25 Regional Teacher of the Year, Robert Parker, is an architecture and design instructor at the Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical Center in Milwaukie who has spent the past seven-plus years energizing and empowering students. To celebrate CTE Month, we partnered with the North Clackamas School District to create a video showcasing Bob’s work as a CTE instructor. Take a listen to learn why students love him, and get Bob’s take on why CTE students are so engaged, how his non-traditional path to teaching helps him in the classroom, and why he believes every student, regardless of circumstances, is capable of greatness.
