On Dec. 6, Clackamas Education Service District was pleased to partner with Clackamas Community College to host a legislative breakfast, a rare chance for regional educators, students and board members to come together with our lawmakers for conversation and learning in advance of the 2024 Oregon legislative session. Ten legislators representing various portions of Clackamas County provided updates and priorities for the coming year. CCC President Tim Cook and Clackamas ESD Superintendent Larry Didway also facilitated a panel discussion featuring CCC leaders and alumnae, as well as Molalla River School District Superintendent Tony Mann and 2023-23 Regional Teacher of the Year Ron Antlitz, a special education teacher at Alder Creek Middle School.
The event helped showcase the connection between pre-K-12 education and Clackamas Community College, and was one more demonstration of our commitment to working together to create a system that caters to the diverse needs of individuals by offering students multiple pathways and options to achieve their goals. It was heartening to feel the collective sense of opportunity and teamwork as we meet continued challenges like recruiting and maintaining a skilled workforce, and supporting the growing academic, behavioral and social/emotional needs of our students. Sincere thanks to the legislators who were able to engage with us, and to our many partners at CCC who helped make this gathering so successful.
