Clackamas ESD had an excellent opportunity this week to shine the spotlight on our important work of building better teaching practices in a fast-changing education landscape.
The annual iPDX conference brought dozens of regional educators together in person at Portland’s Kennedy School – with even more participating online – to talk about collaboratively building new practices that better support students, families and staff, build community and advance equity.
Attendees appreciated the “validating and affirming” presentations by nationally prominent speakers, including educational technology expert Ken Shelton and Dr. Rajni Shankar-Brown, a teacher and scholar with deep experience in advancing educational equity. Some sample praise:
“Their talks on community, coalition-building and asset-based discourse aligned with my work, and the authenticity with which they presented themselves was something that I miss being exposed to.”
The day focused on topics ranging from tailoring learning strategies to students’ needs to improving adaptive leadership skills, using frameworks that could be adapted for use in Oregon.
Clackamas ESD was one of the presenting sponsors of the event. Our thanks to the many partners who coordinated this important professional learning opportunity, including the Multnomah-Clackamas Regional Educator Network, Cascade Technology Alliance, and three other ESDs – Multnomah, Northwest Regional and High Desert.
