Makoa Jacobsen, Clackamas ESD’s assistant director of technology services, will become the ESD’s new chief information officer July 1, 2020.

Jacobsen has worked on and off for Clackamas ESD over the past eight years. He first joined the ESD in 2012 as a data analyst, helping with the conversion to a major new student information system. Over the past several years, he’s progressively grown his leadership capacity, managing teams responsible for overseeing student and personnel information systems, internal IT systems and technology repair.

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to step into a new technology leadership role at Clackamas ESD, and build on our strong reputation for providing stellar technology service, solutions and support to our regional and state partners,” said Jacobsen. “The events of this spring have raised many important concerns about a range of technology issues, from equitable student access to security. I’m looking forward to helping lead our regional effort to make sure technology remains an important foundation of our student learning environment, and is used in innovative ways to support our schools and enhance the learning of all children.”

Jacobsen replaces Stuart Long, Clackamas ESD’s CIO for the past seven years, who has resigned to take a new CIO role elsewhere in the region.
