With community engagement for Student Success Act at top of mind, I wanted to highlight an inspiring story from Oregon City School District.
OCSD’s student centric design and planning process for their two major bond projects — the complete replacement of Gardiner Middle School and a major renovation of Ogden Middle School have involved students, teachers, and parents. It has been inspiring to follow the process and how student involvement has led to the design of innovative cutting edge middle schools.
“This is the best project I’ve ever done in my teaching career,” said teacher Keely Rock. “I am amazed at the engagement, thoughtfulness, and focus my sixth graders have brought to this project. They are working to plan a space where all kids feel safe, connected, and inspired to learn.”
