This past week, state education leaders have been proving how approachable and willing they are to work with local education agencies to support Oregon students. Clackamas County school district superintendents were joined by Colt Gill, the interim deputy superintendent for public instruction. They discussed many priorities, and in particular stressed the need for more resources to support the emotional and social wellbeing of Clackamas County kids and families.
Just a day later, Colt Gill visited the area again, this time speaking with education service district board members from across the state. Recurring themes included tackling Oregon’s low school attendance rates, and supporting successful implementation of the High School Success initiative that will help improve high school graduation rates by adding career-technical education, and other opportunities.
