Dear Clackamas ESD Staff, Families and Partners,
Clackamas Education Service District programs and staff work to create an inclusive, barrier-free environment in which everyone can participate and fully benefit. It is our responsibility to ensure equity of, and access to, educational opportunity for children across Clackamas County by supporting school districts with regional resources and services.
Our federal government’s ongoing action regarding changes to the legal status of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) has undoubtedly caused uncertainty and concern within our network.
You have our commitment to protect the families connected to our organization and to our partners. To that end, we expect each Clackamas ESD staff member, family, student, and community member to stand for respect and to create safe places where each individual can thrive and reach their full potential. Together, we will interrupt discriminatory acts in our community.
All families in our community deserve respect and should not live under constant worry about their future. Clackamas ESD recommends concerned partners, staff and families access the following resources to receive support and better understand the impact of these changes:
- The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Mexican Consulate, and local non-profits are collaborating to host a free DACA renewals day this Sunday, September 17, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m at the Mexican Consulate. Call Chanpone Sinlapasai at 503-607-0444 for more information and to RSVP (required).
- Supporting Families in Time of Fear via the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development
- Protecting our Students: What you Need to Know About the Rights of Immigrants and the Threat of Deportation via the American Federation of Teachers
Respectfully,
Jada Rupley
